Visual Language Project

A project taking two characters from a book, and narrowing their identities down to one distinct group/culture for each of them, and creating a book of abstract compositions to contrast the two.

This project was an exploration of two characters, Monty and Howard, from the book On Beauty by Zadie Smith. The goal was to use the characters as a foundation for representing two distinct American subcultures, in this case Art Academia and Christian Conservatism, and to illustrate key words related to that subculture through collage, composition, typography, and color.
